AAA Driver Training FAQ’s
Since AAA Driver Training appears on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the Wisconsin DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Wisconsin DMV.  You may want to call AAA Driver Training directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Will the Wisconsin DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Wisconsin DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in Wisconsin.
Do I need to tell AAA Driver Training that I need to train with an automatic-shift car? I don't know how to drive a stick-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift automobile!  We recommend that you ask AAA Driver Training if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift car before you sign up to take their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will AAA Driver Training be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like AAA Driver Training will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact AAA Driver Training to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as AAA Driver Training or the Wisconsin DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Wisconsin.
Can I take AAA Driver Training's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Madison Wisconsin drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Wisconsin's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Wisconsin's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact AAA Driver Training directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I have to take a safe driving class in Madison Wisconsin before Wisconsin will give me my driver's license. Does AAA Driver Training offer this type of course?
AAA Driver Training does offer the behind-the-wheel training course in Madison Wisconsin that is required by the State of Wisconsin.  You will need to contact AAA Driver Training directly for more information about the behind-the-wheel courses they offer and their class schedules.
What are the prerequisites in Madison Wisconsin for getting a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  AAA Driver Training may offer an approved driver training course which you could take.  Please contact AAA Driver Training for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Is there a law in Wisconsin that requires me to take behind-the-wheel training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Wisconsin requires that all teen-agers enroll in an approved driver training course before receiving a Wisconsin driver's license.
Can I register for a Wisconsin behind-the-wheel training course prior to having my Wisconsin learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a instruction permit before being permitted to register for a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact a driving school like AAA Driver Training and ask for more information.
