What if I fail my learners permit test?
If you do not attain 20/25 on your the North Carolina learners permit test--don't freak out. you can retake the exam until you pass it. To retake the exam, just showup the next day and try, try again.
What do I need to get on my Teen Driving Course final exam to pass it?
When you take Teen Driving Course's North Carolina online drivers ed class, you will need to score an 80% on your 35-question final exam (that's 28 out of 35). You can retake the exam until you pass, for no additional cost. You can never fail with Teen Driving Course!

When will I receive my certificate of completion from Teen Driving Course?

Once you have passed your driver education course and obtained your North Carolina learners permit, you can start driving provided that a parent/guardian or a licensed driver your family approves of, with 5 years of driving experience is seated in the front passenger seat whenever you drive.
How long do I need to have my North Carolina learners permit before getting a regular license?
You must have had your learners permit for one (1) year and have received no traffic violations of any kind in order to apply for your provisional North Carolina drivers license.
Do I need to do behind-the-wheel training?
As part of your North Carolina driver education training, you must complete six (6) hours of in-class driving under the supervision of a licensed North Carolina driving instructor.
Do I need supervised training outside of class to get my North Carolina drivers license?
No, you do not need to log your driving practice hours outside of what you do in your state-approved drivers ed class.
Can other people ride with me when I get my North Carolina learners permit?
Yes, but there must be a supervising licensed North Carolina driver, with at least five (5) years of driving experience, sitting next to you in the front passenger seat until you get your North Carolina provisional drivers license.
Can I drive with friends after I get my drivers license?
Limited Provisional License holders may only carry one (1) non-family passenger who’s under 21 unless a qualified supervising driver is in the vehicle. If a family member who’s under 21 is in the vehicle, no non-family passengers under 21 are permitted.

Can I drive alone with a learners permit?
Absolutely NO--without exception! Your North Carolina learners permit only permits you to drive with a supervising licensed North Carolina driver who is a family member or who your parents approve of, and they must have 5 years driving experience.
