AAA Driving School FAQ’s
Can you tell me if AAA Driving School is a certified driving school in North Dakota?
Although AAA Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently certified to teach driver training courses in North Dakota.  We recommend either calling AAA Driving School directly or the North Dakota DMV to find out whether or not AAA Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to enroll in a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift automobile? Does AAA Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Bismark North Dakota behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- manual or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell AAA Driving School that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will AAA Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a rural environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as AAA Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact AAA Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Can I apply for my North Dakota instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the North Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction school like AAA Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in North Dakota.
Do I have to complete a Bismark North Dakota drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of AAA Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask AAA Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
North Dakota's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if AAA Driving School offers this course or not?
AAA Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that North Dakota requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses AAA Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact AAA Driving School directly.
I live in Bismark North Dakota. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first North Dakota driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of North Dakota, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  AAA Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What does the law in North Dakota say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  North Dakota law states that new drivers take an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to obtaining their first driver's license.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that AAA Driving School offers?
You will need to contact AAA Driving School or the North Dakota DMV to find out if you are allowed to sign up with a driving school like AAA Driving School before receiving your North Dakota instruction permit.
