Metro Driving School FAQ’s
Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the Ohio DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Ohio?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer driving training courses in Ohio.  We suggest you contact the Ohio DMV to make sure a particular driving school is licensed before you register for their driver training course.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Ohio?
Each state has its own rules regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised driver training as a substitute for enrolling in a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Ohio DMV to find out for sure.
I can't operate a manual-shift. Will Metro Driving School allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Metro Driving School and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Metro Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain town, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Metro Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
I just turned 14 years old. Can I receive my instruction permit in Ohio?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding a learners permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Metro Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Ohio.
I live in Cleveland Ohio. Does the law say I have to successfully complete both a driver ed classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I have to take a driver training class in Cleveland Ohio before Ohio will give me my driver's license. Does Metro Driving School offer this type of course?
Metro Driving School does offer the safe driver training course in Cleveland Ohio that is required by the State of Ohio.  You will need to contact Metro Driving School directly for more information about the driver courses they offer and their class schedules.
I live in Cleveland Ohio. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Ohio driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Ohio, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Metro Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
I live in Cleveland Ohio and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a driver training course before I can be licensed?
Ohio law mandates that all new drivers sign up for an approved driver training program before receiving their Ohio driver's license.  Metro Driving School may offer a driver training course that you are looking for.  Please contact Metro Driving School directly for complete information as to what types of driver training courses they offer.
Do I have to receive my learner's permit in Ohio before I am permitted to sign up to take a driver training course like the one Metro Driving School gives its students?
