Safety First Driving School FAQ’s
Is Safety First Driving School a certified driving school in Washington?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in Washington.  We highly recommend that you contact Safety First Driving School directly or the Washington DMV to find out for sure if Safety First Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that have been approved by the State of Washington.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Washington?
Each state has its own laws regarding driver training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Washington DMV to find out for sure.
I don't know how to drive using a manual-shift. Will Safety First Driving School have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my driver training?
Since you're enrolling in a Seattle Washington behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a stick-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let Safety First Driving School know what your preference is before signing up to take their driver class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
I live in a rural area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Safety First Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Safety First Driving School will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Washington?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Washington Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Safety First Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Washington.
Do I have to take a Seattle Washington classroom or online drivers education course before I can sign up to take a driver training course through Safety First Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require new teen-aged drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask Safety First Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
If I need to enroll in a Seattle Washington driver training program, can Safety First Driving School help?
Yes.  Safety First Driving School offers driving courses in Seattle Washington.  For more information about the type of driver training Safety First Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
What are the requirements in Seattle Washington for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Safety First Driving School may offer an approved behind-the-wheel training course which you could take.  Please contact Safety First Driving School for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Is it necessary for me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first Washington driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Washington must complete a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I enroll in a driver training course like the one that Safety First Driving School offers?
You will need to contact Safety First Driving School or the Washington DMV to find out if you are allowed to register with a driver training school like Safety First Driving School before receiving your Washington learner's permit.
