Advanced Driving Academy FAQ’s
Advanced Driving Academy's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is a licensed behind the wheel training school in Michigan?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the Michigan DMV to offer driver training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Advanced Driving Academy directly or check with the Michigan DMV to find out for sure if Advanced Driving Academy is a licensed school.
Will the Michigan DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Michigan DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Michigan.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Advanced Driving Academy allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift automobile?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of car--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Advanced Driving Academy and let them know before you register for their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Advanced Driving Academy be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Advanced Driving Academy will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Advanced Driving Academy to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before registering for their training course.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to apply for my instruction permit in Michigan?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding a learners permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Michigan Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Advanced Driving Academy to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Michigan.
Can I take Advanced Driving Academy's driver training course before taking a Canton Michigan drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Michigan's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Michigan's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved driver training course.  We recommend that you contact Advanced Driving Academy directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I'm required to take a behind-the-wheel training course in Canton Michigan. Do you know if Advanced Driving Academy offers defensive driving classes in Canton Michigan?
Yes, Advanced Driving Academy does offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Canton Michigan.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their behind-the-wheel training courses, please contact Advanced Driving Academy directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Michigan will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to sign up to take a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Advanced Driving Academy may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement in Michigan.  Please contact either Advanced Driving Academy or the Michigan DMV for more information.
Is a behind-the-wheel training course required in Canton Michigan for me to get a drivers license?
The law in Michigan requires that all drivers complete a behind-the-wheel training program as part of their driver education.  You should contact Advanced Driving Academy directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Is it possible to register for a Michigan-approved driver training course before I obtain my Michigan instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Michigan, however most states require first-time drivers to receive a learners permit before signing up for a behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Advanced Driving Academy to obtain more information.
