Central Driving School FAQ’s
Can you tell me if Central Driving School is a certified driver training school in Michigan?
Although Central Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently licensed to teach hands-on driving courses in Michigan.  We recommend either calling Central Driving School directly or the Michigan DMV to find out whether or not Central Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my behind-the-wheel training instead of a professional driving school instructor like the ones they have at Central Driving School?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the Michigan DMV or a licensed driving school like Central Driving School to find out if Michigan allows driver training with a parent.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Central Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Central Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if Central Driving School offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in city areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Central Driving School will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Michigan?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Michigan Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Central Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Michigan.
Can I take Central Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Okemos Michigan drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Michigan's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Michigan's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Central Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Michigan law says that I must successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Okemos Michigan. Is this something that Central Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Central Driving School offers the Michigan-approved hands-on driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Central Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Michigan will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to register for a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Central Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training requirement in Michigan.  Please contact either Central Driving School or the Michigan DMV for more information.
Do I have to take a Okemos Michigan driver training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Michigan must successfully complete an approved driver training course in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.  Please contact Central Driving School for information on the types of driver training courses they offer in Okemos Michigan.
Can I sign up to take a Michigan driver training course prior to having my Michigan learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a learners permit before being permitted to register for a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should contact a driving school like Central Driving School and ask for more information.
