Bartley's Driving School FAQ’s
Since Bartley's Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Maine DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Maine DMV.  You may want to call Bartley's Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
I've been told that either of my parents can monitor my driver training, so I don't have to attend a Gray Maine driving school like Bartley's Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Maine DMV or a state-approved driving school like Bartley's Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do I need to tell Bartley's Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift car? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift vehicle!  We recommend that you ask Bartley's Driving School if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift car before you enroll in their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Bartley's Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain community, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Bartley's Driving School will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
Can I apply for my Maine instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain an instruction permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Maine Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction school like Bartley's Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Maine.
Do I have to take a Gray Maine classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a driver training course through Bartley's Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require new teen-aged drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course.  You should ask Bartley's Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Does Bartley's Driving School provide a hands-on driver training course like the one that is required by the State of Maine? I need to sign up for one in order to obtain my driver license.
Bartley's Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses which are approved by the Maine DMV.  You may want to contact Bartley's Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about registering for one.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Maine driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a driver training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Maine DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Do I have to take a Gray Maine driver training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Maine must successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.  Please contact Bartley's Driving School for information on the types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer in Gray Maine.
Is it okay for me to register for a behind-the-wheel training class in Maine before I receive my Maine instruction permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their instruction permit before they are allowed to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training program.  You should contact a driving school like Bartley's Driving School and request more information.
