Oregon Driver Education Center FAQ’s
How do I know if Oregon Driver Education Center is licensed by Oregon's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include Oregon Driver Education Center's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Oregon Driver Education Center is certified by the State of Oregon.  We recommend that you either contact Oregon Driver Education Center directly or possibly the Oregon DMV to find out if Oregon Driver Education Center is a licensed driver training school.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in Oregon, so taking a Salem driver training course like the one Oregon Driver Education Center offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Oregon DMV or a licensed driving school like Oregon Driver Education Center and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Oregon Driver Education Center allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift car?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of vehicle--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Oregon Driver Education Center and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Oregon Driver Education Center include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Oregon Driver Education Center will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to apply for my instruction permit in Oregon?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driver training institute such as Oregon Driver Education Center to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Oregon.
I live in Salem Oregon. Does the law say I have to successfully complete both a driver ed classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers successfully complete both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
Oregon law says that I must enroll in a driver training course in order to get licensed to drive in Salem Oregon. Is this something that Oregon Driver Education Center can help me with?
Yes, Oregon Driver Education Center offers the Oregon-approved hands-on driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Oregon Driver Education Center directly.
What are the prerequisites in Salem Oregon for obtaining a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  Oregon Driver Education Center may offer an approved behind-the-wheel training course which you could take.  Please contact Oregon Driver Education Center for information regarding their available classes and how to go about registering for them.
Do I have to take a Salem Oregon driver training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in Oregon must enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course in order to receive a driver's license.  Please contact Oregon Driver Education Center for information on the types of behind-the-wheel training courses they offer in Salem Oregon.
Is it okay for me to register for a behind-the-wheel training class in Oregon before I receive my Oregon instruction permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their learners permit before they are allowed to register for a behind-the-wheel training program.  You should contact a driving school like Oregon Driver Education Center and request more information.
