NW Drivers Ed FAQ’s
NW Drivers Ed's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is an approved behind the wheel training school in Oregon?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Oregon DMV to offer driver training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact NW Drivers Ed directly or check with the Oregon DMV to find out for sure if NW Drivers Ed is a licensed school.
Will the Oregon DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Oregon DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Oregon.
I can't operate a stick-shift. Will NW Drivers Ed allow me to do my driver training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact NW Drivers Ed and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will NW Drivers Ed teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving school like NW Drivers Ed will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
Are 14-year-olds eligible to obtain a learner's permit in Oregon?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction company like NW Drivers Ed to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Oregon.
Do I have to complete a Corvallis Oregon drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of NW Drivers Ed's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask NW Drivers Ed if they offer one or both programs.
If I need to register for a Corvallis Oregon driver training program, can NW Drivers Ed help?
Yes.  NW Drivers Ed offers behind-the-wheel training courses in Corvallis Oregon.  For more information about the type of driver training NW Drivers Ed offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
What are the prerequisites in Corvallis Oregon for getting a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  NW Drivers Ed may offer an approved driver training course which you could take.  Please contact NW Drivers Ed for information regarding their available classes and how to go about signing up for them.
Is there a law in Oregon that says I have to take driver training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Oregon mandates that all teen-agers successfully complete an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Oregon driver's license.
Will Oregon allow me to enroll in a driver training course before I actually get my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you receive your instruction permit before you enroll in a driver training course.
