There are normally 35 questions, and you'll need to get at least an 80% to pass.  If you don't pass the first time, it's okay--you can take the final exam over and over until you do pass it at no extra cost.

Teen Driving Course is offered in Washington as a supplemental driver education learning program only. For DOL approval to substitute Driver Ed To Go for a Washington-approved driver education program, you should contact your local Washington DOL office.
How long does it take to get my completion certificate from Teen Driving Course?
Teen Driving Course will mail your completion certificate to you right after you pass your final exam. Delivery time is normally about 3-5 business days. However, you may opt to have your certificate delivered by FedEx for an additional fee. FedEx offers 3rd Day, 2nd Day, and Overnight Delivery service. The choice is yours.
When can I actually start driving?
As soon as you receive your Washington learners' permit, but remember you must be accompanied at all times by a licensed 21-year-old WA driver with five (5) years of driving experience whenever you drive.  This person must be sitting in the front passengers seat. 

How long is the "waiting period" between the time I receive my learners permit and when I can apply for my Washington drivers license?
You will need to be at least 16 years old to apply for a Washington drivers license, and you will need to have had your learners permit for at least six (6) months before you'll be eligible to receive a drivers license.

Will I need to have behind-the-wheel training?
If you're under 18, you will need to successfully complete a state-approved drivers education course which includes behind-the-wheel training from a licensed Washington professional driving instructor.


How many hours of supervised driving do I have to have before I can get my drivers license?
In addition to the behind-the-wheel training you will receive in your state-approved drivers education class, you will need to log a total of 50 hours of driving practice (10 of which must be at night) with proper supervision.  Your parent or legal guardian will need to sign off on your driving practice log and you will be required to submit this log to the Washington DOL at the time you apply for your drivers license.

Is it okay to drive with passengers in the car if I have a Washington learners permit?
Yes, but you must be accompanied by a licensed driver with at least 5 years driving experience, who's actively supervising your driving from the front passenger seat
Can I have passengers in the car after I get my Washington drivers license?
During the first six (6) months after receiving your provisional drivers license, you may not have any passengers who are under age 20 unless they are family members.

During the second six (6) months, you may have up to three (3) non-family passengers who are under age 20.

After the first year, all restrictions on passengers will be lifted.  Please remember to drive safely.


Can I drive alone if I only have a Washington learners permit?
No, you may not drive alone with only a learners permit.  You must be accompanied by a licensed driver who's at least 21, with at least 5 years driving experience, sitting in the front passenger seat, at all times.
